Visibility of products and services

How do you improve the performance of your products? What information is important to ensure the visibility of your products?

Product title:

The more comprehensive and precise the title of each product is, the more likely it is to appear in search results. 

  • Key elements such as product name, brand, model number, color, size, etc. are important. 
  • The first 50 characters of the title should highlight the key selling points of the product.
  • Use a maximum of 128 characters, excluding special characters and typos.
  • Avoid superlatives and irrelevant keywords in the title.

Product category:

When displaying products, product categories are particularly important. Like keywords, they are not shown on the search results page but are relevant for classification and play a significant role in ensuring that your product or service is shown to the right buyers. Our system will usually provide you with 3 category suggestions based on the product title. You can also enter the category manually or search for a suitable category 

Product description:

The product description should contain all the information that a buyer is interested in when searching. The first 150 characters are particularly important to arouse a buyer's interest. 

  • Provide detailed and accurate information such as the material, dimensions, unique selling points, etc. and include all relevant keywords.
  • Avoid overly technical terms or jargon and emotional or intrusive wording.

Note: The product editor currently allows basic formatting options, including the use of paragraphs and simple bullet points (e.g. hyphens). While advanced features like bold text or color customization are not yet available.

Product keywords:

Although keywords are not visible on the search results page, they are used to find relevant products. Since the length of the product title is limited, we recommend that you add additional words to increase the visibility of the product. 

  • Use keywords that are less than 60 characters and that are very specific and descriptive.
  • Do not use duplicate keywords.

Tip: We recommend using between 5 and 10 relevant keywords. It is advisable to include synonyms and technical terms that are relevant to your product.

Product images:

Uploading high quality product images can greatly enhance its visual appeal. 

  • Upload images in JPG, PNG, TIFF, GIF or WEBP formats, preferably with a size of 800x600 pixels and under 5 MB in file size.
  • The best image ratio is 4:3.
  • Always upload the most significant image first.

Product prices:

  • Specify the price, the type of unit and the minimum order quantity precisely,  if possible.
  • Always keep prices up to date. They should match the information on your website.
